Pharmaceutical Technology
Head of Pharmaceutical Technology Department: Asst. Prof. Özge SOYLU ETER
Pharmaceutical Technology is a branch of science that investigates the scientific principles of designing natural, semi-synthetic and synthetic active substances as pharmaceutical drug forms and deals with their industrial and clinical applications. Formulation design of solid dosage forms, parenteral drugs; disperse, carrier, semi-solid, controlled release, transdermal drug carrier, bioadhesive, ocular drug carrier, targeted drug carrier systems containing anticancer or peptide/protein drugs, optimization techniques, stability studies, drug carrier systems used in veterinary medicine, pharmaceutical industry and patent studies, quality in the pharmaceutical industry, quality assurance, validation, ISO standards and certification, bioavailability, bioequivalence and studies on drug-medical device combination products constitute the research areas of the Pharmaceutical Technology department.

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is a rapidly developing branch of science that requires multidisciplinary knowledge and experience and includes the technologies required for the formulation and production of biological/biotechnological drugs, is based on the fundamentals of medicine and pharmacy, and contributes to human health and society with innovative drugs and products offered for treatment. Biological/biotechnological drugs are generally formulations grouped as immunological medical products, blood products, products obtained with recombinant DNA technology, hybridoma and monoclonal antibody methods, and advanced medical treatment products of cellular origin.
Peptide and protein formulation, stability, recombinant DNA technology and drugs produced with this technology, nanobiotechnology, gene delivery systems, antisense technology, vaccine technology, validation in pharmaceutical biotechnology and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) constitute the research areas of the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Department.
