Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Pharmaceutical Chemistry is the department that research the design of new therapeutic drugs, chemical synthesis of these compounds, elucidation of their structures, quantification, structure-effect relationships and metabolism. At the end of all these examinations, while aiming to advance the compounds towards preclinical studies, it works in close co-operation with different disciplines to achieve this goal. While pharmaceutical chemistry studies are usually carried out in the laboratory to develop the ideal drug that is more effective and less toxic from a pharmacological point of view, "Computer Aided Drug Design" is also widely used for this purpose today. In undergraduate education, it is aimed for students to gain the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills necessary to know drug molecules in all their aspects.
